6/25/10
Time: 12:00pm- 5:00pm (5 hours)
Details:
I sat here thinking on ideas for project J.E.R.E.M.Y and what I could add into it.
6/28/10
Time 12:00pm- 5:00pm (5 hours)
Details:
I set up the camera and tripod for project J.E.R.E.M.Y and filmed one person today. Then Chris asked me to make a poster to show the times and locations of the interviews. I also looked into the Wisc Cal Scheduling Assistant, and apparently I need some sort of "higher-up" to invite me in order to start using the scheduler.

Internship Day Nine
6/24/10
Time: 12:00pm- 5:00pm (5 hours)
Details:
I came in and sat. And that was it. Looked on Oracle Calender and there was nothing to meet about or talk about with anyone on any projects. Although I'll be starting the project J.E.R.E.M.Y interviews tomorrow at the PTE rooms. Today was just a slow, casual day. Jeff did come to see my laptop, the outcome was that I still need to upgrade the mac's OS to 10.6 from my 10.5.8 update, so we'll work something out later.

Internship Day Eight
6/23/10
Time: 12:00pm- 5:00pm (5 hours)
Details:
Today I came in and started working on the poser project that Luiz was working on. Being creative is pretty hard when you have everything that you need.
I met up with AJ, Lejia, Filipe, and Tenzin for the afternoon to work on getting Vegas video for the laptop. Unfortunately I will need Jeff Houston to modify the laptop I'm using in order for me to use the Novell client and have access to parallels, this meeting with Jeff is scheduled on Friday. Although we had the transfer process for Vegas from the ITA office's external hard drive moving the software to my computer, there was a transfer error. So whave collaborated and decided to just wait until I get the laptop modified for myself. Filipe suggested I learned another video editing software, I forgot what its called but I'm pretty sure I'll remember soon. (haha).
I returned to the office and continued the poster project but Luiz has finished it and I suggested that there was a lot of white space left, but he then said "That's all the pictures there was," not much we can do about it though. He sent it to get it approved to send it out to those who need to be thanked.

Internship Day Seven
6/22/10
Time: 12:00pm- 5:00pm (5 hours)
Details:
Today was the final filming day for the T&L Symposium video. Vanessa came in and gave Chris a script to read off of which included the introduction of the video and the conclusion of the video. At first we tried making Chris do a walk-in shot which had her walk towards the camera while saying the first couple of sentences of the script, but this idea wasn't too good due to lighting, angle, and uncomfortable shooting environment issues. We eventually made our way to the corner where we shot the interview, although Chris had many attempts at the introduction, it was a very good one, she did great.
Vanessa and I returned the camera, tripod, and external microphone back to the DMC. We had troubles capturing the video from the camera to Vanessa's laptop but we asked for help from the DMC crew.
I came back into the cubicle and decided to help with ideas on Luiz's project: the T&L posters which had to include the logos of sponsors and the group photo they took.
Reflection:
Time is flying by fast. Summer is going by really fast. Life is going by even faster.

Intership Day Six
6/21/10
Time: 12:00 pm-5:00 pm (5 hours)
Details:
I walked in and was called to participate in a meeting with Luiz, Cydney, Christine, and Vanessa. The meeting was on what different projects were going on and who was going to take the lead on each one. We decided to give a "code name" to Kathy's retirement video: Project J.E.R.E.M.Y, this name should ease up with the suspicion that Kathleen Christoph might have. Shortly after this first meeting, Chris invited me to the window b her desk and we met with Kathy McMicheal to talk about where I should do the interviews. We decided that we were going to use Kathy Christoph's office as well as her room in the PTE building for the interviews. We still have to figure out how to get word out to the people we are going to invite for the interviews, but as I heard the only way is to properly email and invite or something.
After this meeting, two hours have passed, and another meeting was with the communications board to talk about goals for June, July, and August on certain projects and stuff, I'm not too sure if it had to do with anything I was going to help capture video for except for the Mythbusters video.
Reflections:
I can see now why in the beginning everyone was rushed about these video projects, time is flying fast pretty quickly, it's already the third week into June even though it feels the ear barely turned 2010. This job is an interesting job that I hope I could find in my future. It's relaxing, enjoyable, great working environment, great people to talk with, and a great working pace.

Internship Day Five
6/18/10
Time: 10 am-3pm
Details: Today I came in ready for the last interviews I had set up a couple days ago. I finished interviewing David Gagnon and successfully captured all three interviews into one single file on iMovie. Unfortunatly, Vanessa was not here all day so I could not collaborate with her on the video we would be editing and producing for the T&L Symposium video. I have shown Christine all the footage I have gotten so far and she has seen some good stuff that I taped. A meeting next week will cover in editing the footage and placing them within the already made video that Vanessa has. We will also talk about new, creative ideas in the production of this video, as well as maybe putting some clips in the awards videos.
Reflection:
I'm getting used to interviewing people. I barely stutter anymore because of my comfort. This is a really great intern and would recommend it to newer ITA students.

Internship Day Four
6/17/10
Time: 1:30 pm- 5:00pm (3.5 hours)
Details:
Today I had scheduled an interview with Ron Cramer around 2:30pm and it lasted for about 20 minutes. I have captured the video content and saved it to the laptop. I am hoping to edit both TImmo's and Ron's interviews by chopping bits and pieces up and placing them into a video Vanessa had started on prior to my internship. I have also scheduled the rest of my interviews for Friday and have received an invite from Luiz on helping him with ideas for the thank you posters to all those that were a part of Academic's thing during the summer. I was given a couple of sample pictures from Luiz to start thinking about creative ideas for the posters because they are looking for variety and I was pretty sure I could do that.
Reflection:
Not too hard, not too easy, just neutral. This internship has a lot in store for me, not just meetings, but getting to know how this department of DoiT impacts the UW campus. I enjoy my workspace and the respect that the staff and my supervisors give to me.

Internship Day Three
Wednesday 6/16/10
Time: 12:00 pm-5:00 pm (5 hours)
Details:
Christine and I managed to meet for an hour or so as I came in. My Wisc Calender is up and running and I have scheduled all the interviews I need before next week Tuesday the 22nd. I also have gone over the video I shot on Tuesday, which looks okay except I have no software on this laptop to capture the video. Hopefully, tomorrow I will have another great day at this intern, I'm hoping I can capture the videos and start editing them right away before Tuesday's deadline.
Need to meet the deadline!

Internship Hour Logs
I will be keeping track on Wisc Calender as well as on this blog. Most likely I will be posting daily blogs about my hours spent and how productive each day went. The past two days, Monday and Tuesday, will be included in this blog.
Monday: 11:30 am-1:00 pm (1.5 hours)
Details: I received a tour from Cidney and got familiar with the working facility. I attended a small meeting which included Christine, Luiz, Vanessa, Elizabeth, and Chris. The meting covered what different projects were undergoing production such as the T^4, AT accomplishments, and a secret video. The meeting took most of the time, but we arranged that Luiz was my main supervisor.
Tuesday: 12:00 pm-5:00 pm (5 hours)
Details: I walked in and met up with Vanessa. We went down to the DMC to pick up the equipment that we need for the interviews. The equipment included the tripod, camera, and external microphone. Vanessa then gave me a sheet of paper which included a variety of questions that dealt with the T&L Symposium video. The list contains staff members that need to be interviewed. We ended up interviewing Mr. Dugdale, which turned out great because his answers were fairly good, according to Vanessa. I then returned to Christine's desk and I asked about the history of Engage and T^4. Both Christine and Vanessa left the workplace and I was alone to research T^4 and Engage through their well made website. I sat and read about Academic Technology and their role in DoiT, as well as read about the staff that worked here. I then left at 5:00pm.
Reflection:
It's a very nice place, extremely nice people, great atmosphere and a nice professional building. I feel that the working world will not be as hard as I thought it would be thanks to the many different people I've met so far here, and the experience I will have once I have completed this internship. I am very glad that I was chosen from the several students in ITA, to participate in something great and fun.
