ITa 10/24/09

Today we created a game in Microsoft Excell. This game required the creation of complex formulas referencing different files. The file we used had drop-down boxes which were 'uberly' weird. While I was busily creating my file, I watched, and played on facebook along with Henry and Bryce. At the end, the game did not work for us because of some error with '#NAME' even though all replacements for both players' names were correct. Since Henry didn't make a player, he ganged up with Bryce and they both worked on one character. They lost epicly in the free playground against me. :)

To-be cheerleader was supposed to go Pro until she got her Flu Shot! Apparantly ten days after her Flu shot she had a syndrome that forced her muscles to spazz and nerves to twitch constantly. The weird thing about this syndrome is that she is not able to speak very well or walk forward BUT she can walk backwards fine and while running or slowly jogging forwards, she can speak normally. As soon as she begins to walk forward, her muscles and nerves twitch constantly.

Today's Daily News!

From Robeson Highschool, located in Chicago, 115 young women, ages 14-17, are pregnant in this school. According to the statistics taken from it, a counted total of 800 girls attend this school, 115 of them are either pregnant or have their own child already. That's 1 out of every 6 girls at this school aged 14-17 who have a child or are going to have a child.

ITa 10/10/09

In this session of Ita we explored and continued the use of Microsoft Excell. This software is a complicated database archiver which allows users to manipulate its use of functions and complicated equations. Topics discussed today were linking data from one spreadsheet to another by creating a series of functions which identified each file and using the transferable data collected from one file to the other. By linking these items, things will change automatically after edited use of the copied data on the file which the data was copied onto. This session also let us explore the different uses of mulitple functions stored within Microsoft Excell. More than 1,000 uses via functions are found within Microsoft Excell's software.

Operating Systems

An Operating system is the core foundation to a running computer. OS' include Unix, Linux, OS X (Macintosh), Windows. Some operating systems such as Linux is an open source, free redistribution OS that is based on the functions of the Unix. Linus Torvalds is the founder of Linux and he simply allowed the community to take his software and redistribute it as seen fit. Multiple "flavors" (versions) are created by ordinary people by restructuring the coding formats.

Operating systems work by being requested a command from the user, you. Once a user has commanded the computer to do a certain action, it will request this action through a series of codes within the hardware. This code that computers use is called Binary. Binary code is a series of 1's and 0's. The code is sent to the motherboard where it will process the information using the CPU, RAM, bus', and Hard drives. Once the information is processed, it will be sent back to the user, into the selected output device (Monitors, speakers, mouses) and translate the information from 1's and 0's to a language or action you can understand.


INTERESTING FACTS:
Your computer can only be as good as your processor.
Speaking of processors, there are a few types such as a single, duo or quad core processor.

1. Single core processors are capable of only doing single tasks at one time. Although you can try to multitask on a single core processor, it will not be any faster than handling one thing at a time. Freezes often occur when trying to do many things at once with a single core processor.
2. Duo core processors are much faster than the single cores. These can process multiple tasks and not freeze as often as a single core processor. This processor is common among computer users.
   
3. Quad core processors are the fastest. These processors can handle many tasks at once. Just like a guy typing, eating, drinking, and brushing his hair all at once, the quad core can handle a lot of commands the user has to offer. Most gamers (people who play games) shoot for this kind of processor because it can handle a lot of the HD (hi-definition) games.
